Race Format Details

Each car will run 8 heats, so that all tracks are raced on by every car once. An additional rule to keep in mind: If any car falls off the track and/or sways off its lane onto another, causing any car to never cross the finish line, that heat will not be counted and will be rerun. If the same car happens to fall off or sway again, not crossing the finish line, the maxium time of 5 seconds will be applied as the time for that car, for that heat.

Reminder about the BSA Pinewood Derby kit:

As the rules state, the block of wood, and nails that come in the kit cannot be swapped out. If there is a defect with one of the parts in the kit, please notify Pack/Den leaders about obtaining a replacement. Replacement wheels can be bought at BSA Scout Shops but please be very careful as other hobby stores may claim to have official wheels, but this is not always the case. When in doubt, please ask your Scout Leaders.
